SPOILERIsn't that a reference to the clan's battle on Assail? They got annihilated by the Three Tyrants and the survivors turned to dust and fled eastwards across the ocean, eventually arriving in Lether?

Ian Cameron Esslemont has turned in the manuscript for Stonewielder, which will be published in late 2010 and follow-up on the events of Return of the Crimson Guard.

No word on Erikson, who is also due in late 2010. He's still relatively early in the writing process of The Crippled God.

So I'm plowing through the series, just got into TtH tonight and I really enjoy it, good to see the MoI characters again. I have to say though, having just finished RotCG that I really had to push through it at times, and thought that SPOILERLaseen's and Tay's deaths just sort of happened with very little warning. Seriously, these are two characters that are central to the series and their deaths seemed almost like footnotes. Not that I care either way whether they lived or died, but still... I wonder if ICE just ran out of steam by that point.

I'm about to FINALLY get started on DoD. Still haven't read RotCG so I'll just have a reduced reading experience. Confused

Sweet new map of the Malazan World from Cartographer's Guild.

Non-canon, and in fact outdated due to new info from Steven Erikson received last year, but still very impressive.

Oh.......I LIKE!!!

Wert: Any Idea on time frame for Stonewielder? Is it going to be a good bit more storyline dedicated to Greymane? The title leads me to think so.

Cheers,

Cot

This is fantastic! I'm curious what details you're talking about that needed to be corrected, the only thing I can see is some of the terrains, but that is minor when one considers the work put into this.

I went through the Malazan thread linked to the map (which you provide on your blog) and found this stunning version of Genabackis from Sadist:

STONEWIELDER's current release date is the second half of November 2010. The precise date has yet to be determined.

The prologue will apparently be previewed on Malazanempire in a few weeks. We know the book will be primarily set on Korelri and Greymane will feature, although I suspect the main storyline will revolve around Iron Bars, the Stormwall and the Stormriders. I am hopeful for our first-ever map of Korel and Stratem.

That would indeed be awesome. I cannot wait for it. Any word on Erikson's progress? I have little hope that he can pull off finishing the series in the same amount of time he has put out a book everyyear so far. He is a machine but this is the end of a 10 book series that probally doesn't have an equal when it comes to depth and scope.

Thanks for the info Smile

Cheers,

Cot.

Erikson was down to having to finish the last two chapters a few weeks back. Completion and submission is expected any time now.

Bantam UK's cover art for Ian Cameron Esslemont's STONEWIELDER. There is also an extract from the first chapter here.

STONEWIELDER is expected to land on 25 November 2010, THE CRIPPLED GOD is pencilled in for the end of January or the start of February 2011. The first three Korbal Broach/Bauchelain novellas are also being released by Bantam UK in August 2010. I think they're already out in the USA from Tor.

I believe ICE will be taking over his story. Wert am I correct in this? Or will the Crippled God feature the stories of Genabakis and the Letherii continents?

Is there going to be a Toblakai book(s) at some point?

I believe Erikson intends to write a Toblakai trilogy after he finishes the main series.

From Steven Erikson via Facebook:

"GASP! That would be me, coming up for air. How long was I down there? About twenty years, from conception to completion. The Malazan Book of the Fallen is done. Sure, editing and all that crap to follow. But ... done. I don't know who I am. Who am I again? What planet is this? Three months of butterflies ... maybe this double whiskey will fix that. Hmm. No. Delayed reaction going on here."

Very Happy

f*** i really need to crack on with these i waaaaayyy behind you lot. The cover art for stoneweilder looks good, better that ROTCG.

Laughing i cracked up when i read steven's comment.

I know im going the wrong way here but the downside is erikson is going take his time with his next two trilogy's due to the speed and time frame he wrote the malazan series -(im telling you, the guys a machine) but luckily for us esslemont came in to save the day Smile
