I think we got a dead thread here. Or they got busy somewhere else.

Looks alive to me, people are recommending books as the threads name indicates.
Life is cyclical. We need someone there to remind us of the things we've forgotten. Why? This memory, this knowledge of past mistakes and how to correct them will not stop the cyclical process. No, rebirth is a natural part of life, but if we wish to maintain goodness for as long as we can we need someone there to remind us of our virtues, pains, failings and masterpieces. Through this remembrance we may slow our descent into chaos and destruction and hasten our ascent back into the light that makes us whole.

I would argue that Narnia belongs under Young Adult, rather than Epic.

Under Comedic Fantasy you should add Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Under High Fantasy you should add Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Weis/Hickman. You should also add Black Sun Rising by C.S. Friedman. I guess it would be High Fantasy here, but if you add something else with it you could put it in a Dark Fantasy section. A section for just one doesn't make sense though.

Another good book to add is
Raymond Feist Magician
And in the alternate history section or in just science fiction put
Harry Turtledove Guns of the south and the timeline-191 series
Guns of the south was an amazing stand alone read.
But timeline-191 series is an epic read 11 books spanning nearly 100 years of alternate american history. Truly brilliant alternate history. If you like history and/or books based in history you will probly love these books. But be warned he dosnt pull any punches with killing of great characters.

I've been meaning to get back into some Turtledove books. Is this the series that begins with the crucial lost message during a battle in the Civil War that allowed the Confederacy to win, and then Turtledove covers the next several generations of history with two American nations instead of one? Why is it called the Timeline-191 series? I haven't heard that term before.

Yeah thats the one it starts with the message being picked up by some southern guys on patrol and that turns the war so the south wins. I skipped the first book and start with the great war series. Im not sure what tiemline 191 means but thats what was listed when i went to the page about it to get the name of the series. The last part about world war II was great. The last book came out last year so you can read through the whole series now nonstop.

I would reccomend adding:
Mordant's Need by Stephan R. Donaldson.
The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander.
The Duncton Wood Series (and beyond) of Books by Willam Horwood.
The Xanth series by Piers Anthony (at least the first 3 anyway).
Though some might disagree, Eddings Elenium and Tamuli Trilogies.

I don't know how well liked or how well received it's been, but "Neuromancer" by William Gibson is a pretty spectacular hard sci-fi novel.
