I like them. Of course, they're not as good as the Dresden books, but he has some cool concepts and an interesting magic system. Another cool thing is, instead of taking place in a mideval setting, these books take place in more of an ancient Roman-like time period.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- technicaly yes but it's more mystery, i mean it has magic and fantacy elements but to me I would classify it as mystery. you know P.I. and all. ????? ![]() there's no need to fear... Seriously, it's called Urban Fantasy. It's become a pretty big sub-genre.
Anyway, the Codex Alera is a great series. You can't quite compare it to Dresden because it's a whole different bag of bones, but it holds its own. I'd highly suggest reading it, g.

I've read both series and enjoyed both, but the Dresden Files have a special place in my heart.

I'm not overly happy with the last book, but I did enjoy the end.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- they next few books are supposed to be really harsh for Dresdin, sounded like he might loose a lot of people close to him, I'm chomping at the bit ![]() there's no need to fear...
